Planning and preparing a weekly message is challenging enough, but what about planning out a whole sermon series? If you ever felt the “series-transitioning-angst” that comes at the conclusion of one Biblical book and the start of another then this episode is for you!

Ronnie Martin, pastor of Substance Church in Ashland, Ohio, speaks with Mike about the process he takes to discern the next book or series to take the church through, as well the danger that comes from over-preparedness and the unique blessing of being in the room with your congregation.

Ronnie Martin is founder and lead pastor of Substance Church in Ashland, Ohio, where he also serves as a northeast regional church plant director for the EFCA. In addition to writing for The Gospel Coalition, his work includes numerous album and book titles, including Stop Your Complaining. He and his wife Melissa have one daughter.
